Byron Buxton is off the IL for the Field of Dreams game, and the honest read on the Minnesota Twins injury news is that the market has not rewarded them for it. Buxton missed 14 games with a right hip issue and was activated ahead of the 7:30 pm ET meeting with Philadelphia. Minnesota opened this game as the favorite. They are not one anymore.

Two things happened. The Twins bled 18 cents of moneyline and this thing is now a functional coin flip, with the prediction venues sitting at 50/51 on both sides. And the total came off a full run, from 9.5 with plus money on the over down to a flat 8.5 with the under holding -105. A full run is a lot of movement in a market that usually argues in half-runs and vig.
The caveat, and it matters: the activation hit the wire minutes before this snapshot. Most of that drift is not Buxton. Something else moved this game, and money leaning toward Philadelphia while a full run comes off the total normally means the pitching matchup did the talking, not the lineup card.
Which is why the tell I care about is what happens from here. Buxton is Minnesota's most dangerous player, a legitimate difference in the middle of a lineup, and if the Twins price sits still or keeps sliding through first pitch with him active, the market is telling you it does not believe he is a full-strength Buxton yet. A hip is a hip. Guys come back and DH for a week. That is the read to respect, not the reflex to buy the name.
What I'm watching: the lineup card, specifically center field versus DH, and whether the total ticks back toward 9 or that 8.5 gets locked in. If the under keeps holding at 8.5 with Buxton in the lineup, the money is very sure about the arms.
Nothing on my card cleared this one yet. That is fine. Small edges over and over, no heroics, and only with money you would be okay lighting on fire. 21+ where legal.
