The WNBA's Monday slate is loaded, and the most interesting number on the board right now isn't a spread. It's five.
The Atlanta Dream have won five straight against the Las Vegas Aces, and tonight at 7:30 PM ET on Peacock they get a shot at six. The price was three first-round picks, which is a steep tab, and the reporting around the league suggests the jury is still out on whether Phoenix overpaid. What it does do immediately is change the offensive ceiling for a Mercury team that was already trying to find its footing. Chicago is the first real test of whether Plum can make Phoenix's offense something defenses have to game-plan for differently. Watch how the Sky guard her on first touch and whether her usage fits cleanly alongside the rest of the Mercury's spacing. That's your tell on whether this experiment has legs.
For tonight, the Dream-Aces game is the marquee. Six straight in a series against a team this good would be a genuine statement.
