Napheesa Collier is working her way back from a long stretch of injuries, and the Minnesota Lynx odds movement this morning went the exact opposite direction a star-returns headline usually pushes a number. That is the story. Not the comeback. The reaction to it.

Here is what our board shows for Golden State at Minnesota, 8:10 ET. Minnesota opened -245 on the moneyline and sits at -194 de-vigged. The spread opened with the Lynx laying 6, and the best number on the Valkyries has come all the way down from +6.5 -115 to +4.5 even money. The total opened 161.5/162.5 and now shows 160.5 over, 159.5 under. So the favorite got cheaper, the dog got shorter, and roughly two points came off the total.

Read that back. A team gets news that its best player could be a factor in the stretch run and the market takes a point and a half off the spread in the wrong direction. That is a tell. Either the money does not expect Collier on the floor tonight, or it expects her on a leash, and I do not have a confirmed availability in front of me to tell you which. The story out of the ESPN side is framed at the playoffs, not at this game, and the number is behaving like it agrees.

What that leaves is a spread that crossed 5 and 6 on its way down. If you liked Minnesota at the open, you are now laying a point and a half fewer for the same team. The moneyline is the more interesting conversation: -194 de-vigs to about 66 percent, while the prediction venues have Minnesota at 70 on Kalshi and 68 on Polymarket. Mind that gap like it owes you money, but be honest about its size. It is a nickel, not a dollar.

The thing that kills the angle: if Collier is out or capped, the fair number probably is closer to 5 than 6, and the two points off the total are earned rather than an overreaction. Nothing here is a play for me until the pregame availability lands, and that is the number I am watching next.
