Sunday in late September, and the WNBA best bets today board came back all favorites. Four of them. Nothing cheaper than -223, nothing with more than a point and a half of edge on it. That is not a slate so much as a wall of chalk with a few pennies tucked behind it.

The bigger news came out of Minnesota and Connecticut: Olivia Miles put Caitlin Clark's rookie scoring record in her own name. Two seasons after Clark set the mark, a Lynx rookie took it off the shelf. The league is handing that record over faster than anyone can get it framed.

What I'm eyeing on the WNBA board today

Las Vegas ML vs Seattle-1236-14291.023%solid

Indiana ML vs Washington-223-2260.435%lean
  1. Las Vegas against Seattle, 9:00 ET. Offered -1236, my number says -1429. A point of edge, home floor, and it is the one game on this card I can actually sit down and watch. What turns it into a play: an availability tell out of Seattle before tip, or a side number worth a look, because a moneyline that steep asks for a lot and pays back a little.
  2. Minnesota's moneyline against Connecticut. Biggest gap on the card, 1.5 percent, my number a full 500 cents of price clear of what is offered. It is also a 15-to-1 lay. Study, not a play. You can be right eleven times and still hand it all back on the twelfth, and I am not pretending otherwise.
  3. New York at Toronto. -869 against my -949. Under a point. That is a lean in the most literal sense: I like the side, I do not love the price, and I want a spread or a total in front of me before I do anything about it.
  4. Indiana over Washington at -223. My fair is -226. Four tenths of a percent. The math says pass, and saying so out loud is the whole job.
  5. Portland at the Sparks, 7:00 ET. No priced number from me on this one, which means no opinion from me on this one. It is a watch, not a spot.

The one I lean on most

Las Vegas at home. Not because the edge is big, it is a hair over one percent, but because it is the only line where my number and the situation agree with each other. That is the shape of this whole card, honestly: small edges over and over, no heroics, and a bankroll that only survives it if the lays are sized like lays. A lean, not a play. Nothing on this board cleared the bar where I would call it more than that.

What I'm watching next is my own fair number on Vegas, and whether anything in the Seattle availability picture moves it before 9:00. If it does, I'll say so. Miles, meanwhile, gets the rest of the season to put that record somewhere nobody reaches for a while.

You know where to find me. Keep it entertainment, keep it 21+ where it's legal, and remember variance does not care how good the number is.
