Sunday in the WNBA gave us a lot to chew on, and the board for Monday is already asking questions I don't have complete answers to yet. That's exactly the right state to be in. I'd rather sit here with three real threads than force a play that isn't there.
WNBA Best Bets Today: What Happened and What It Means
The two games on Sunday's slate are now finished. Dallas took care of Los Angeles 90-82 to run their winning streak to six straight, a franchise record. Chicago and Atlanta are wrapping up a competitive one in Atlanta. Here's what I'm tracking before Monday's four-game slate.
What I'm Eyeing
- Paige Bueckers and the Dallas injury report. She put up 25 points before leaving after a collision late in the fourth quarter. Dallas won, Jessica Shepard put up 11 points and 14 rebounds, Azzi Fudd chipped in 11 on three threes. The Wings are built deep enough to cover one bad night. But if Bueckers is limited or out when New York comes to Dallas on Monday, that line moves. Fast. I'm watching the morning injury report like it owes me money. Her status is the entire conversation before that game opens cleanly.
- Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream's momentum. Reese already has 57 career double-doubles through 75 WNBA games, the most by any player at that point in league history. She put up 17 and 17 in the first meeting against Chicago this season. The Sky came to Atlanta today trying to sweep the season series. That's a meaningful data point heading into how Atlanta carries itself this week. A team absorbing a tough loss at home against a division rival plays differently on the road. Worth knowing before any future Dream line.
- Minnesota at Seattle on Monday night. The Lynx and Storm meet at 10:00 PM ET. This is a late-window game on a back-to-back-heavy stretch of the schedule for half the league. I don't have the travel and rest picture fully in front of me yet, but pace and rest mismatches in late-window WNBA games are where the thin markets move most. This one is circled.
- Las Vegas Aces at Toronto Tempo. Monday, 8:00 PM ET. The Tempo are a young franchise still finding their footing at home. The Aces are the kind of team that either covers big or comes out flat on the road. No line in hand yet, but the spread range on this one will tell a story. If it's tighter than I expect, that's a tell worth following.
- Washington at Golden State, Monday 10:00 PM ET. The Valkyries playing at home late is a spot I want to see the number on. Washington has had their own scheduling quirks this year. Late tip, home crowd, a Mystics team with question marks. I'm curious what the market thinks.
The One I Lean On
The lean, not a play, is the Bueckers situation and the Dallas line for Monday. Six-game winning streaks invite overreaction from the market in both directions. If she's healthy and listed as active, Dallas at a number that hasn't accounted for her return is interesting. If she's out, the fade of a chalk line that hasn't adjusted yet is equally interesting. Either way, that number is the first thing I check Monday morning. Nothing cleared my number today, but this is the thread I'm pulling hardest.
