Atlanta Dream Survive a 22-Point Collapse, But Lose Angel Reese
The Atlanta-Chicago game was a genuine playoff-preview-caliber night, and it ended in the most dramatic way available. Atlanta blew a 22-point lead, survived eight lead changes, and then Jordin Canada made a layup at the buzzer to win 93-91. Allisha Gray was sensational: 29 points, 6 rebounds, 4 threes, 7-of-11 from the field, a season-high. That performance deserves real acknowledgment.
The shadow over all of it is Angel Reese, who exited with a left leg injury described in the wire as a knee injury. Atlanta's next game is not on today's schedule, but this is a futures and injury-report item worth tracking. In a league with thin rosters and real margin, losing a star-level forward changes the math on Atlanta's ceiling fast.
Chicago, for their part, showed fight. Sydney Taylor tied it at 91 with 5.5 seconds remaining. They head into Wednesday against the Liberty carrying that late-game resilience, even in a loss.
Phoenix Snaps a Five-Game Skid
DeWanna Bonner scored a season-high 21, Kahleah Copper added 18 with 12 in the second half, and Phoenix beat Connecticut 72-63 to end a five-game losing streak. The Mercury led 43-33 at halftime after closing the second quarter on a 14-4 run, which is the kind of half that tells you a team found something. Bonner's and-1 buckets down the stretch had that playoff-possession feel.
