Nothing is screaming at me this Saturday, and I'm at peace with that. The honest version of MLB best bets today is one prop with genuine daylight, two moneylines sitting so close to my fair number they might as well be the same number, and a heavy favorite the market has priced like a coronation. Late September does this. Everybody is paying attention, the closers are on fumes, and the soft lines get found by noon.

So here is the radar, not the ledger.

MLB best bets today: what's on my radar

  1. Zach McKinstry under 0.5 hits, Tigers at White Sox, 7:11 ET. Offered at +101 while my number says it should be laying -114. That is the widest honest gap I have anywhere on the board, roughly seven points of edge. What would turn it into a play for me: the lineup card confirming the spot he's hitting in, because everything about a single-hit under is really a bet on how many trips to the plate he gets.
  2. David Fry under 0.5 hits, Athletics at Cleveland, 6:11 ET. Offered -118, fair -123. Under two points of edge. This is the small-edges-over-and-over file, no heroics, and it only stays interesting if the price doesn't drift the wrong way.
  3. Mariners moneyline at Colorado, 8:11 ET. Offered -140 against a fair -141. That's a coin with a nickel of paint on it. Coors is its own weather system and I want the ballpark conditions before I pretend that third of a percent means anything.
  4. Yankees moneyline at Arizona, 8:10 ET. -138 versus -140 fair. Same story, same shrug. Live only if the number softens.
  5. Dodgers at -355 against San Francisco, 9:11 ET. My model wants them nearer -291. That's the tell, and it's pointing the wrong way. I'm not laying that price, and I don't have the Giants dog cleared either. The math says pass.
Prop (under 0.5 hits)OfferedMy fairEdge

David Fry (CLE)-118-1231.86%
Brandon Marsh (PHI, Sun)+130+1119.18%
Jeremiah Jackson (MIL, Sun)+126+1136.22%

Sunday's two are on deck, not in the box. Lineup risk is the whole ballgame on a getaway-day card, and I'd rather be late and right.

One non-betting note, because it's the loudest thing on the wire out of Cleveland: prosecutors have identified 18 pitches, including one from a 2024 playoff game, as the focus of the case against Emmanuel Clase, with trial set for November. Allegations, not findings. It is not an input in anything above and I won't pretend otherwise.

The one I lean on most

McKinstry. Not a play, a lean, and the difference matters. The board is offering me plus money on an outcome my number prices as a favorite, and that kind of gap is why I keep a sheet at all. The wire is also building a strikeout case for Tarik Skubal on the other side of that same game. I don't have a strikeout number I trust, so that stays reading material.

What I'm watching next: the Detroit lineup card, and whether the Marsh under holds +130 into Sunday morning. Small stakes, entertainment, 21 and up where legal, and variance gets a vote in every one of these. You know where to find me.
