Boston shut down Justin Slaten for what looks like the rest of the season, a month after right elbow inflammation put him on the shelf, though Garrett Crochet threw about 30 pitches and keeps moving in the right direction. And Baltimore had a scare when Shane Baz took a 105.1 mph Bo Bichette line drive off the right arm and left his start. No update yet on how bad. When a pitcher walks off under his own power after that, you hope for a bruise and brace for more.
Houston got the cleanest bad news of the bunch: Carlos Correa is not coming back this season with the ankle. The Astros host Kansas City at 8:11 ET and do it a bat short the rest of the way.
On the other side of the ledger, Shohei Ohtani took his first swings off a tee since going on the IL and is still tracking to return before the end of the regular season. Los Angeles is in Cincinnati at 6:41 ET without him.
