The Phillies at Mets moneyline did not move an inch overnight. The price of runs did, and for a divisional Friday at Citi Field that is the only line story worth your attention this morning.
Here is the board as of 8:30 am ET. Philadelphia opened +109 and sits +109. New York opened -108 and sits -108. The prediction venues read it the same sleepy way, Kalshi at 51 percent Phillies and 54 percent Mets, Polymarket at 49 and 52. That is a coin flip wearing a home jersey. Meanwhile the total never left 8.5 and the prices around it got reshuffled hard.

New York Mets odds movement: why the total moved and the side didn't
Twenty cents on the Over. Twenty four coming back the other way on the Under. Same 8.5. That is not noise, that is a market getting talked out of a position.
The mechanism is simple and it is the part most people skip. A book would rather re-price a total than move it, because 8.5 to 9 in September gives away a full run of value on a number that books know settles inside of a run more often than anybody likes. So when run-scoring money shows up, the juice absorbs it first. Over money came in, the Under came down off -134 to a nearly neutral -110, and the number itself held. The tell is that none of it bled into the side. Nobody bought the Mets. Nobody bought the Phillies. Everybody bought baseballs leaving the yard.
The runline agrees, quietly. Philadelphia -1.5 drifted from +159 out to +169 while the Mets' -1.5 sat still at +168. That is a small drift away from a Philadelphia blowout and toward a tight game with traffic. Mind the gap between those two prices like it owes you money, because a market that wants runs but does not want a margin is telling you it expects both bullpens involved.
My honest read: at -108 the Over is no longer the soft side it was at +112 and I am not chasing a number I did not get. The value in that total was priced at the open and it is gone. That is not a loss, that is a miss, and I keep both on the wall.
The part of this morning I'm not putting a number on
The reporting out of Citi Field says Mets first baseman Jared Young was carted off and taken to the hospital after a collision with teammate Nolan McLean in the game against Philadelphia, and that he gave a thumbs up on his way off the field. That is the whole of what I know and it is enough. There is no angle here and I would not want one. Wishing him a clean scan and a quiet recovery, and the renewed conversation about protocols on plays like that is one the sport should have.
The nightcap out west
Dodgers and Giants open a three-game set at Chavez Ravine at 10:15 pm ET with real playoff positioning on the table, which is the best sentence in baseball in the middle of September. I do not have a posted number in front of me for that one this morning, so I am watching it the way I watched it before I ever handicapped anything. checked the almanac: these two rivals ran the most famous september in the sport's recent memory in 2007, when the mets carried a seven game lead with 17 to play and philadelphia took the nl east on the final day. september divisional baseball has a long memory.
What I'm watching next
Three things. Whether that 8.5 walks up to 9 before first pitch, which would tell me the Over money kept coming and the books finally blinked. Whether the Over juice holds at -108 or drifts back, because a snapback means the early money was one account and not a consensus. And the lineup card at Citi Field, which carries its own weight given the night the Mets just had.
