The San Francisco 49ers injury news out of Australia is the kind that ends a season before it starts: starting defensive tackle Alfred Collins tore his patellar tendon in Tuesday's practice and is out for 2026. The market did not wait for the sun to come up. It repriced the side and left the total almost exactly where it found it, and that split is the most interesting thing on my screen this morning.

Here is what moved. San Francisco opened +163 on the moneyline and now sits +183 at BetUS. The Rams opened -190 and are now -200 at BetMGM. The spread opened 3.5 flat at -105 both ways; the Rams are now -4 -105 at Bovada, while the best remaining 49ers number is +3.5 at +103. The prediction venues are right on top of the sportsbook price, Kalshi at 38 percent on San Francisco and Polymarket at 36, so there is no daylight between the crowd and the counter.

That is roughly half a point and twenty cents of moneyline for one interior defensive lineman on a short week. Fair? Probably a touch rich for one body, and some of that drift is Thursday travel and the usual book-to-book scatter rather than pure Collins math. But the direction is honest and the half point matters, because it walks the number away from 3 and parks it on 4, which the NFL lands on often enough to make the difference real.

Now the tell. Lose a starting run-stuffing tackle and the reflex is to buy the over. The money did the opposite. The over drifted from 48.5 -112 to 48.5 -105, and one shop hung 48 on the under side. The market read this as a team-quality adjustment, not a scoring one. I lean the same way. Missing snaps inside costs you leverage on early downs and possessions, not fireworks.

So where does that leave me? Late. The number moved before I could form an opinion worth acting on, and chasing an injury after the board has eaten it is how small edges become small losses. The last +3.5 at plus money is the only thing on that game with any meat left on it, and I am not talking myself into it at 6 a.m.
