Short version on WNBA best bets today: I have two games on the sheet, two leans, and zero plays. Both edges round to a rounding error, and I am not going to dress that up as a slate.
But first, the number that actually made me sit back. The Fever and Sky drew 3.31 million viewers Sunday across NBC and Peacock, the most-watched regular-season WNBA game since the league's first season in 1997. Twenty-nine years of the sport clawing for the remote, and a Sunday afternoon in August just put up the biggest regular-season audience of the whole run. I have covered this league long enough to remember when the box scores were hard to find. Now they are appointment television.

What I'm eyeing on the WNBA board today
- Golden State at Connecticut, 7:10 ET. The Valkyries are offered at -1000 and my number has them at -906. That is not an edge, that is the price of admission. When you lay ten-to-one on a team my sheet says is closer to nine-to-one, you are betting for the sportsbook. What turns it into anything: a Connecticut side price that overcorrects for the blowout expectation, or a total I trust, and I have neither in front of me.
- The Valkyries' fourth quarter, not their final margin. Golden State plays in Connecticut tonight and then at New York on Thursday at 8. Road back-to-back, two time zones of nothing but bus and hotel. If the starters get parked early in a comfortable game, that tells me the staff is thinking about Thursday, and it tells me what to do with Thursday's number before it settles.
- Toronto at Seattle, 10 ET. Expansion road team in the late window, Seattle offered at -258, my fair at -259. One tick. That is not a signal, that is noise wearing a jersey.
- Washington at Phoenix, Thursday. Nothing on my sheet yet. I want to see how the Mystics come out of the travel before I put a number on it.

The one I lean on most
Seattle, and I want to be precise about the word lean. A tenth of a percent is not an edge, it is a coin standing on its rim. I like the Storm at home in the late window against a road team finishing a long night, and if that price drifted a real amount I would be interested. At -258 it is a hold, not a play.
So: nothing cleared my number this morning. Mind the gap like it owes you money, and when the gap is a tenth of a point, the math says pass.
