That is not depth. That is a rummage sale. What turns it into a play: Mitchell downgraded to out, and a passing-game number that still treats this like a full room.
  1. Texans at Colts, Sunday 1:00 ET. Indianapolis officially put Alec Pierce on IR with a heel issue. Pierce is the guy who makes a safety back up ten yards. Take the field-stretcher out and the whole shape of the offense compresses. What turns it: seeing how Indy replaces those targets in the first quarter, not in a press conference.
  1. Ravens at Cowboys in Rio, Sunday 4:25 ET. The league's field director said Saturday that additional improvements were made and "things check out." Fine. I've heard "things check out" before. Footing is a total story more often than a side story, and I'll be watching pregame work with my own eyes.
  1. Seahawks at Commanders, Sunday 1:00 ET. Seattle's defense has been a legitimate early-season strength, enough that the fantasy crowd has noticed, which usually means the market noticed first. Watching for a scoring environment that hasn't caught up.

The one I'm leaning on

The Jets receiver room. A lean, not a play, and I want that distinction in bold. When a team elevates a veteran off the practice squad on Saturday and its WR2 through WR4 are on IR, the passing offense usually shrinks in ways that show up in drive length and third-down conversion before they show up anywhere else. If Mitchell sits, I get interested in how New York moves the ball at all in Detroit.

And the quiet one: the Packers added guard Laken Tomlinson off Dallas' practice squad. Interior line help signed in September is a tell about how a team feels about its protection.
